Our Foundation Accepts Real Estate Donations for Orphan Projects

Real Estate Donations

Real estate donations, which can be considered as a form of sadaqah jariyah (continuous charity), are encouraged in our religion. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: إِذَا مَاتَ الإنْسَانُ انْقَطَعَ عنْه عَمَلُهُ إِلَّا مِن ثَلَاثَةٍ: إِلَّا مِن صَدَقَةٍ جَارِيَةٍ، أَوْ عِلْمٍ يُنْتَفَعُ بِهِ، أَوْ وَلَدٍ صَالِحٍ يَدْعُو له
"When a son of Adam (i.e. any human being) dies his deeds are discontinued, with three exceptions: Sadaqah, whose benefit is continuous; or knowledge from which benefit continues to be reaped, or a righteous child who supplicates for him." [Reported by Muslim]. 

In this regard, real estate donations (such as buildings, shops, apartments, land, etc.) made by our esteemed donors are accepted by our Foundation for projects aimed at benefiting orphaned children. These donations can be made either with specific conditions or without any particular stipulations, depending on the donor's preference.

How Can You Donate Your Real Estate?

  • Unconditional Donation: You may donate your real estate unconditionally, for it to be used by our Foundation in carrying out beneficial services for orphaned children.

  • Conditional Donation: You may choose to donate your property with specific conditions attached. For example, you may request that the proceeds from the real estate be used for psychosocial support for orphaned families, for supporting orphanages exclusively, or for providing regular food aid to orphaned families.

  • Donation with Usufruct Right: Alternatively, you may choose to donate the ownership of the property while retaining the right to use it. In this case, the property’s ownership will be transferred to the Orphan Foundation, but as a donor, you may continue to use or manage the property for as long as you desire. Furthermore, you can also choose to donate the rental income from your property to the Foundation.

Determining the Value

The Orphan Foundation determines the value of donated real estate based on its own research and evaluations from independent firms approved by the Capital Markets Board (CMB). This is taken into account when the property is sold or leased.

Evaluation of Donations

The proceeds from the sale of donated real estate are used by our Foundation for the most urgent projects benefiting orphaned children. If the donor specifies any conditions, the funds from the sale are allocated to one of the orphan funds designated by the donor. Rental income from the properties is also utilized in support of the Foundation's wide-ranging activities.
