Yetim Foundation touched the hearts of 301.933 people in 23 different countries, including Türkiye and Palestine.
Yetim Foundation continues to care for orphans, single parented children and social orphans across the globe. This Ramadan we set out with the slogan “This Ramadan Touch Your Heart” to respond to places experiencing a humanitarian crisis such as war, poverty and natural disasters. Starting with our own country, Türkiye we also responded in 23 different countries including Afghanistan, Arakan, Albania, Azerbaijan, Bangladesh, Bosnia, Burkina Faso, Chad, Palestine, Iraq, Iran, Lebanon (Palestinian camps), Mali, Nepal, Somalia, Sri Lanka, Sudan, Syria, Togo, Tunisia and Yemen.
Building a bridge between donors and orphans, Yetim Foundation spread the blessings of Ramadan to orphans deprived of love and affection. In total 97,845 people benefited from the food boxes and 57,360 children benefited from children’s packets. During Ramadan, iftar tables were set out for 78,678 people while suhoor packets were given to 5,000 people. 1,170 people benefited from the welcoming Ramadan packets and 18,702 children spirits were lifted with Eid clothes while 5,000 also received Eid money. With your help as donors, 14,825 people benefited from Zakah while another 8,970 from Fitrah, 10,400 from Votive, Aqiqah and Gratitude sacrifices (Qurban). Lastly, 5,650 people received home furniture, bringing hope into their homes.
SPONSORS WERE FOUND FOR 1,812 ORPHANS
1,812 children were added to Yetim Foundation’s sponsorship support system that operates in 23 countries making the number of sponsored children in total 12.000.
A LIGHT FOR GAZA
During Ramadan, Yetim Foundation continued its aid in Gaza for the Palestinian children trying to survive in inhumane conditions amid the genocide and war. The foundation distributed 3,008 food boxes while giving 63,720 iftars in Palestine. 1,045 people benefited from Zakah from donors and 500 children were excited to receive Eid clothes.
TRADITIONS WERE UPHELD
Yetim Foundation volunteers spent time with children at Taraweeh, giving them gifts and money. The children felt the excitement of Ramadan with the old tradition of “Afire Çiğeği”.
BEING A CHILD IN PALESTINE
Every year Yetim Foundation publishes a report on the 15th of Ramadan, World Orphan’s Day in order to spread awareness of orphans. This year the Foundation published the report named “Being a Child in Palestine” uncovering the impact of the genocide, destruction and inhumane acts caused by Isreal and its effect on children.
THE 15th OF RAMADAN WORLD ORPHAN DAY
Yetim Foundation was founded on the 15th of Ramadan in 2017 and like every year, the foundation highlighted the 5th of Ramadan this year. The president of the foundation Murat Yılmaz gave a press release on the 11th World Orphan Day.
Yılmaz started his speech with the following: “World Orphan Day reminds all of us of something. No matter where they are in the world, we are all responsible for orphans and the fulfillment of their right to love, affection and security.” He mentioned that across the globe there are 1 billion children that are either orphans, single parented or social orphans.
