Smiles Through Sacrifice
Yetim Foundation 2025 Eid al-Adha Project – FAQ
What activities will Yetim Foundation carry out for Eid al-Adha?
Under the slogan "Smiles Through Sacrifice", Yetim Foundation will carry out Qurbani on behalf of donors during the Eid al-Adha period and distribute Eid support, zakat, and sadaqah to orphans and those in need.
Who is targeted in the Eid al-Adha work?
There are over a billion orphans and social orphans worldwide. The Yetim Foundation targets orphans and social orphans in need, especially those living in orphanages, dormitories, and children's homes, as well as widows and people in need in regions with high orphan populations.
What is the aim of the Qurbani project?
While the main goal of the Qurbani activity is to fulfill an act of worship and gain Allah's pleasure, our project also aims to:
- Distribute sacrificial meat to orphans, widows, and social orphans
- Establish brotherhood across countries by celebrating Eid together
- Raise the morale of the Ummah
- Undo the influnce of Christian Missionaries using Humanitarian Aid as a means for imposing ideologies
What kind of work does the Yetim Foundation do before distributing Qurbani?
- Country Selection: Countries are determined based on the number of orphans and the level of need. Africa, which has two-thirds of the world's orphans, is prioritized. Other selected regions include South/Southeast Asia and the Middle East.
- Team Formation: Each team includes foundation board members, staff, volunteers, journalists, donors, and local partners.
- Local Partner Coordination: Local institutions we work with are asked to make the necessary preparations for sacrifice and distribution well in advance of Eid.
- Team Orientation: Teams are informed through previous travel reports and reports from local partners. Each team leader is given power of attorney and is responsible for sacrifices and other aid (Eid gifts, zakat, etc.) in their assigned area.
- Reporting: After returning, each team shares notes and suggestions for future projects. These are evaluated and then submitted to the foundation.
