Sacrifice for their smile

Orphanage Foundation's 2024 Sacrifice Document in Question and Answer

What activities will Orphanage Foundation carry out regarding sacrifices?

Under the slogan "Sacrifice for your smile" during the 2024 Sacrifice Period, Orphanage Foundation will strive to deliver the sacrifices provided by our charitable donors on their behalf, in addition to the Eid support, Zakat and cash support entrusted to us by donors, to our orphan families and their families.

To which groups does Orphanage Foundation aim to deliver sacrifices within the scope of Eid al-Adha?

There is a very large population of more than 1 billion people within the scope of orphans, orphans and social orphans who fall within the scope of the Orphanage Foundation. In this context, we will carry out our sacrificial work in the countries and regions where our orphans, orphaned children and their families are located, orphanages, dormitories and homes for orphaned children, and of course children deprived of their love, affection and compassion. Care, even if they have parents. And this year, we hope that our victims will also reach the families of the earthquake victims, who are going through difficult times after the earthquake disaster we witnessed last year.

What goals does the Orphanage Foundation want to achieve with the Eid al-Adha organization?

While our foundation is doing acts of sacrifice, it works with the awareness that what is being done is primarily an act of worship and that the primary goal is to please Allah. Delivering the meat that they can eat perhaps once a year to our needy orphans, orphans and socially orphaned children and their families, being a mediator for the benefactors to perform the rituals of sacrifice, and holding a meeting of the nation by celebrating Eid with tens of thousands of our brothers and sisters in countries and regions, and of course in different parts of the Islamic geography, our goals include raising the morale, motivation and joy of life for people affected by the earthquake we witnessed in our country, and being able to create a better life. Influencing the work of missionaries who are trying to create a world centered around the Christian West through orphan children, being able to monitor what is happening in sister geographies immediately, and being able to bring new projects related to our orphans to the agenda of benefactors in our countries there.

How does the Orphanage Foundation prepare for its work on sacrifices?

Determining the countries to which it will go: First, the countries suitable for the sacrifices are determined. The most important factor in determining these countries is the schedule of orphan children in the country. When we look at it in this way, the African continent stands out, which hosts a large percentage of the world's orphans, and which, according to recent statistics, has two out of every three orphans in the world. After Africa comes South and Southeast Asia, where poverty and natural disasters are widespread, and the Middle East, where wars and chaos leave millions of children orphaned.

Creating teams: Working teams are formed in specific countries and regions according to the intensity of activity in the country. The teams consist of members of the Foundation's various delegations and boards of directors, its employees, donors and volunteers from various professional categories, journalists and writers.

Partner Organizations' Preparations: Our organization carries out sacrifice activities through partner organizations in relevant countries. Our partner organizations are informed before the sacrifice starts and start the necessary preparations.

Team Preparation and Mission Process: Travel books and current reports written about the countries in previous years are sent to the teams that will work. In addition, a power of attorney for the amount of sacrifice to be slaughtered is given to the team leader. The team completes the sacrifice according to the number of delegates. If any, other duties such as Eid and zakat distributions are also completed.

Comments and Reports: The Orphan Foundation teams, which complete their work in the destination countries and return to Turkey, transfer their travel notes, comments and project ideas for solving problems to the relevant committee. This reported information is evaluated and presented by the Orphan Foundation.

Middle East: Palestine, Lebanon/Palestine camps, Iran, Syria, Yemen

Central Asia: Afghanistan

Africa: Burkina Faso, Chad, Ghana, Guinea, Kenya, Mali, Mauritania, Somalia, Sudan, Togo, Zimbabwe.

Israeli attacks in Palestine have been ongoing since October 7. How will the sacrifice and distribution activities be carried out here?

We have been working for many years for Gaza, which has been under attack for more than seven months and has been under air, land and sea blockade and siege for 17 years. We currently support 2,000 orphans in the region, and we have supported nearly 300,000 brothers and sisters in Gaza after October 7. Our organization will also carry out animal sacrifice activities for the region during Eid al-Adha. However, due to the blockade on Gaza, we will slaughter our animals outside Gaza during Eid al-Adha and deliver them to the region as canned meat within 3 months. We hope that our sacrifices will reach the Palestinian camps in Lebanon in the form of frozen meat within a month and a half.

What does the Orphanage Foundation care about when determining the areas of sacrifice?

The degree of harm to the areas is important in determining the areas of victims. Accordingly; orphans, orphans, social orphans, and orphanages located in war and crisis areas, areas suffering from natural disasters, poor countries, and areas where hunger and drought prevail are taken into consideration in the first place.

How are orphans, orphanages, and needy orphan families identified?

Projects, research and feasibility studies in various fields continue throughout the year in the countries and regions where the Orphan Foundation operates and aims to reach. With the contribution of sister organizations, the most needy groups of orphans, orphans and social orphans are identified in orphanages in countries and regions and activities focus on eliminating problems there. Sacrifice works are primarily carried out in these regions.

As an Orphan Foundation, how do you get a power of attorney for sacrifice?

Those who wish to have a sacrifice send the specified sacrifice fee to the Orphan Foundation to slaughter their animals and distribute their meat to those in need. As in everything else, what matters in the power of attorney is the person's intention and will. Benefactors who apply to the Orphan Foundation to sacrifice their animals show their intention. It is also not necessary to express it verbally. Because work and practice are also a declaration of will.

How much is the price of a sacrifice?

The cost of the sacrificial share is set at 3900 TL abroad and 11000 TL for Turkey and Palestine/Gaza. This price includes all organizational expenses.

How is the price of the sacrifice determined?

The prices of sacrifices vary around the world. They are low in some regions and high in others. Since the sacrifice donations made to regions where prices are low will increase, while the sacrifice donations made to places where prices are high will decrease, the Orphan Foundation determines the prices of sacrifices by dividing the regions where sacrifices will be made into two categories. Accordingly, taxpayers will be able to slaughter their sacrifices for 11,000 TL for the victims of Turkey and Palestine/Gaza, and 3,900 TL for all other regions. In this way, it is possible to prevent concentration on regions where prices are low and the meat of sacrifices can be delivered to each region in proportion to the need.

Is it possible to donate from abroad?

Yes, it is possible. You can donate on Yetimvakfi.org.tr.

Can you send photos and videos of our victims being slaughtered?

Unfortunately, we do not have the opportunity to work in this way in all countries and regions due to the circumstances in the areas where we will slaughter and the donations of sacrificial animals that reach us until the last moment. However, for the 2024 sacrifice period, we have organized the countries of Togo and Yemen for donors who request a video of the sacrifice. You can see the photos and videos we took in the countries and regions we distribute on our social media accounts.

How are sacrifices carried out in many different countries within a few days?

Our organization organizes sacrifices in cooperation with partner organizations that have many years of experience in their field. These organizations plan to identify needy orphans, homeless children, social orphans, orphanages and other needy people in the cities, towns and villages where the distribution will take place before Eid al-Adha, and organize the purchase, slaughter and distribution of sacrificial animals suitable for sacrifice. After these initial preparations, the officials of the Orphan Foundation who will accompany the sacrifices take a proxy for the amount of the sacrifice they will slaughter and go to the countries where the sacrifice will be made before Eid, where they carry it and the slaughtering and distribution takes place under the supervision of sister organizations starting after the Eid prayer until noon on the third day of Eid al-Adha.

Is it permissible for those who are obligated to sacrifice to slaughter wherever they wish?

The philanthropists can slaughter their sacrifices at any time they wish - within the national quotas - in the countries specified by the Orphan Foundation. However, it is better to leave the determination of the slaughtering areas to the Orphan Foundation to prevent concentration in certain areas.

How does the proxy know that his sacrifice has been sacrificed?

The donors who donate their sacrifices can know that their sacrifices have been sacrificed through text messages sent by the Orphan Foundation to their mobile phones. After the sacrifice is completed in the areas, the teams there inform the headquarters of the Orphan Foundation that the sacrifice has been completed. After this information, text messages are sent to the taxpayers' mobile phones to inform them that their donations have been made. However, we find it useful to remind you that some of the donors we met last year did not receive messages because their phones were switched off from receiving messages from the institutions.

How many days does it take to sacrifice livestock?

The sacrifice begins after the Eid prayer on the first day of Eid, and ends in the afternoon of the third day of Eid. It is worth noting here that the day of Eid al-Adha has changed in some countries such as Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka. Our sacrifices are sacrificed according to the Eid in the country you are in, not according to the Eid in Turkey.

Is it permissible to slaughter the votive sacrifice, the aqiqah and the thank-you sacrifice on Eid al-Adha?

It is also possible to slaughter the votive sacrifice, the aqiqah and the thank-you sacrifice during Eid al-Adha.

Until what day can the sacrifice be donated?

Eid donations can be made until 09.00 on the third day of the holiday.

Is it permissible to delegate charities to perform the sacrifice?

The delegation can be given to institutions that sacrifice animals for the needy inside or outside the country. The only condition is that the institution is a reliable institution that slaughters the animal suitable for sacrifice in every way, according to its purpose and procedures, and delivers its meat, skin and other usable parts to the right places.

Is it permissible for those who cannot pay the full price of the sacrifice to pay less?

Since the sacrifice fee is 3,900 TL abroad and 11,000 TL for Turkey and Palestine/Gaza, the amount given less than this will not be enough for the sacrifice fee.

Is it permissible to send Eid gifts to children with the sacrifice?

Yes. Our foundation wants to make our orphans live an unforgettable Eid al-Adha experience by adding the joy of Eid to the joy of their sacrifice. For this reason, our brothers and sisters who wish can donate an Eid gift worth 1,250 TL with their sacrifice donations. In addition, you can contribute 130 TL by writing BAYRAMLIK from the SMS section of your mobile phone and sending it to 8868, and 30 TL by sending it to 9868.

Is it permissible to sacrifice with payment instruments such as checks and promissory notes?

Promissory notes are not accepted. Cheques are accepted for a maximum period of 45 days.

Who is obligated to offer the sacrifice?

A person who has 80.18 grams of gold, money or goods worth the same, in addition to his basic needs and debts, is religiously rich. Therefore, one should offer the sacrifice as an expression of gratitude for the blessings that Allah has bestowed upon him, and as a sign of sacrifice for the sake of Allah.

What should be considered when slaughtering an animal?

The animal to be sacrificed should not be subjected to pain or suffering. Animals should be slaughtered by qualified persons and the slaughtering process should be done quickly. In addition, precautions should be taken to clean the environment. During slaughtering, care should be taken not to keep the animals next to each other so that they can see each other during slaughtering.

What is the meaning of sacrifice? What is the ruling?
