Yetim Foundation distributed hot food to 4.600 people in need in Gaza as a part of the Palestine Emergency Aid Campaign. The food was served on the 26th of February.
Executed at a time when the humanitarian crisis deepened, this initiative supported Palestinians who struggle to meet their basic food needs. The food distributed was especially important for families who live in areas where infrastructure was destroyed, and kitchen facilities are scarce.
The president of Yetim Foundation, Murat Yılmaz gave the following statement on this topic: “While the people of Gaza are experiencing the darkest days of history, it is our responsibility as humans to stand with them. Serving hot food is one step towards fulfilling emergency needs. Our work on the ground will continue with extensive support programs especially for orphans and mothers.”
Extensive Aid Work
Last year Yetim Foundation carried out extensive aid projects in Gaza. Reaching more than 430 thousand people, our foundation provided clean water to more than 100 thousand people with water distribution projects and served food to 110 thousand people with different hot food projects. In addition, with bread and flour distributions, more than 50 thousand people’s basic food needs were met.
Yetim Foundation officials informed that the humanitarian aid work for Gaza will continue. The foundation plans to distribute food for iftar to 250 thousand people in Ramadan.
With special programs in Ramadan, the Foundation reached 60 thousand people with iftar programs and filled the tables of 9.500 people with food boxes. In addition, financial support was given to more than 3.300 people through Zakah.
The Humanitarian Crisis Deepens
Since October 2023, the humanitarian crisis deepens every day due to the oppression in Gaza. According to the United Nations, nearly all of the population of 2,3 million people are displaced. While the destroyed infrastructure makes it hard to access basic needs, the people are struggling to reach basic tools like food, clean water, medicine, and petrol.
The health system in the area has been destroyed and sicknesses are spreading like wildfire. Malnutrition and lack of clean water for children are resulting in serious health problems.
