A Teacher Training Program for Teaching Turkish as a Foreign Language was held at Reyhanlı Education Village.
"Organized by the Yunus Emre Institute, the program took place at Reyhanlı Education Village in the Reyhanlı district of Hatay from November 18 to 20, 2019, aimed at teachers providing Turkish language lessons to Syrian students." Hosted by the Orphan Foundation, the program took place at Ebu Ubeyde Anadolu Imam Hatip High School in the village, where 61 teachers from various disciplines, who teach Turkish to Syrian children, participated. During the three-day program, participants engaged in theoretical lessons and practical workshops led by experts from the Yunus Emre Institute as well as renowned academics in the field.
The program covered a variety of topics, including the teaching and development of the four basic language skills, using technological tools in teaching Turkish as a foreign language, drama applications, vocabulary and concept teaching, grammar instruction, principles for exam preparation and implementation, teaching Turkish to migrant children as a second language, challenges faced in teaching Turkish to Syrian children, communication with traumatized children, integration class applications, and the overall methodology of Turkish language teaching. At the closing ceremony, attended by Mehmet Ali Arslan, Director of the Reyhanlı National Education Directorate, Prof. Dr. Yavuz Kartallıoğlu, Director of Turkish Language and Literature at Yunus Emre Institute, and Mustafa Onur, Branch Manager, the participants were awarded certificates of participation for the Teacher Training Program for Teaching Turkish as a Foreign Language.
