Yetim Foundation is expanding its Orphan Sponsorship Support System that started for the thousands orphaned children since Isreal’s attacks on Gaza. Supporting 13 thousand orphans around the world, Yetim Foundation has reached more than 2 thousand orphans in Gaza since the start of the genocide. The foundation now aims to increase this number to 7 thousand.
The Crisis in Gaza Deepens
In Gaza, where 40 thousand children have been made orphans since October 7th of 2023 humanitarian organizations are working hard to prevent the deepening of the crisis. The fact that in Gaza, more than %70 of the lives lost are women and children is enough to prove the severity of the humanitarian crisis. As a result, children who lose their parents are left traumatized.
The president of Yetim Foundation Murat Yılmaz highlights the severity of the situation in Gaza with the following: “3% of Gaza no longer lives. This is a humanitarian crisis never seen before in world history. We are responsible for the innocent children who are trying to survive under bombs, trying to find something to eat. The orphans, single parented children, and social orphans’ food, shelter, education and psychological needs are increasing.”
Yılmaz also said the following regarding this campaign: “At the moment we give regular support to more than 2 thousand orphans, however we aim to make this 7 thousand orphans. We call all donors to support our work so we can achieve this goal together.”
How does the Sponsorship System work?
Yılmaz also added the following: “You can change the lives of an orphan just with a fee of 600 lira monthly or 7.200 lira yearly. Their life story started with sadness, but we can rewrite happy stories for them.
Yılmaz also reminded that Yetim Foundation has been operating in 45 countries other than Palestine including Syria, Lebanon, Yemen and Afghanistan. Last year the Foundation supported around 2.5 million orphans, single parented children and social orphans.
