Lebanon Emergency Aid
Lebanon Emergency Aid
As a result of the instability and the political weaknesses of the Middle East, Lebanon has been receiving immigrants for years. Therefore, the country is very religiously and ethnically diverse. The Palestinian immigration to Lebanon due to the proclamation of the illegitimate state of Israel in 1948 and the following Arab-Israeli wars, has increased ethnic tension in the country. Since 1975, 150 thousand people have been killed in the 15 year-civil war. The country that already has a fragile sociology, faced a serious wave of immigrants due to the Syrian war that started in 2011. Lebanon whose population is more than 6 million, holds 500 thousand Palestinian and about 1.5 million Syrian immigrants. %45 of Palestinian immigrants live in 12 overcrowded camps in which poverty and unemployment is high and housing conditions are poor. There is no special camp established for Syrians. The economic problems and unemployment rate have increased with the arrival of refugees.
THE SITUATION AFTER OCTOBER 7, 2023
Since October 7, there have been mutual conflicts between Israel and Lebanon. While Israel is intensively targeting settlements on the Lebanese border, the cities of Tyre, Sidon, Baalbek and Beirut in the south are the scene of attacks and assassinations. As a result of Israeli attacks since the middle of September, 550 people have lost their lives while about 200 thousand people have migrated from the south cities to safer places. After September 20, Technological attacks (denotation of pagers and radios) were replaced by heavy bombardment. The number of deaths and injuries are hundreds.
A CALL FOR EMERGENCY RELIEF!
In Lebanon, where we have already been operating in for a long time, the amount of people who are trying to get to safety has increased due to unlawful Israeli attacks. Considering the upcoming winter, the situation is expected to get rough. Right now, the refugees that were forced to leave their homes need hot food, provisions, drinking water, shelter, beds, pillows, blankets, clothes, hygiene kits, kitchen utensils, and fuel for shelters and hospitals.
Our troubled Lebanese brothers and sisters appreciate your emergency relief support. We are glad to have people like you on this earth.
