Orphan Foundation is taking the children orphaned by the earthquakes under its wings.

Hope is always there!

Two separate earthquakes measuring 7.6 and 7.7 hit ten cities, leaving 4.5 million children orphaned in the cities affected, including Kahramanmaraş, Hatay, Adıyaman, Malatya, Gaziantep, Şanlıurfa, Kilis, Adana, Diyarbakır, and Elazığ. In response, the Orphan Foundation has launched an initiative to support children left without families, which is its area of expertise.

During the earthquakes, first and foremost in Kahramanmaraş's Pazarcık district, as well as Hatay, Adıyaman, Malatya, Gaziantep, Şanlıurfa, Kilis, Adana, Diyarbakır, and Elazığ, the biggest devastation of the last century occurred, with 46,104 people losing their lives. According to research conducted on the ground, the earthquake's destructive impact was felt in a 1,000-square-kilometer area, with 230,000 buildings that require immediate demolition and 645,000 independent units that are heavily damaged in ten cities. From the first day of the earthquake, Orphan Foundation President Murat Yılmaz drew attention to the campaign "It's time to keep up being with goodness," which they launched in the region, and highlighted that they delivered more than 20 million aid to earthquake victims within a month. Yılmaz emphasized that they delivered relief for the urgent needs and psychosocial support for all cities in the region with two separate disaster coordination centers they established in Adıyaman and Hatay during the earthquake. He underlined that they have delivered 41 trucks loaded with food, water, hygiene, clothing, and household goods, with the support of volunteer teams, to earthquake affected families living in the region's most remote areas.

SUPPORT FOR 7 MILLION ORPHANS

Orphan Foundation President Murat Yılmaz stated that the second phase of their relief activities after the earthquake is organizing psychosocial support studies, and said that their long-term studies, which they started in the region, continue uninterrupted. Yılmaz stated that the number of children who lost their parents in the cities affected by the massive earthquake and those who are considered socially orphaned, even if their parents are alive, reached 4.5 million. He also announced that in Syria, which was also affected by the earthquake, this number reached 2.5 million, and preparations were completed to take a total of 7 million orphaned children in the region under the wings of the foundation.

ONLINE APPLICATION FOR SUPPORT

The Orphan Foundation takes into account all kinds of requests made through its website regarding the support to be provided to children orphaned by the earthquake. In this regard, the foundation, which has completed all preparations, continues its support activities in psychosocial tents established in the region, while launching an initiative to support earthquake victims who have taken refuge in any city in the country to overcome the trauma they experienced. Once any situation of the orphaned children in the region and their cities are reported, the foundation teams deliver aid and support to meet their needs.

FREE BOOKS FOR STUDENTS

In the same time, Orphan Foundation volunteers in earthquake-affected areas have launched a campaign to provide test books to all students who will take the YKS and LGS exams in Turkey.
