Zehra

Zehra is an eight-year old girl.  She is the new visitor of Reyhanlı Education Village. On the first day she came to our village, she was obviously different from her other friends: She was not laughing like them, she was not participating in their games.

When we felt that something was going on under Zehra's fearful gaze and shy attitude, we decided to find out her story:

When Zehra was only four years old, their house in Homs was raided. Her expecting mother, her father, her grandfather, her grandmother, siblings, uncles...On that day, Zehra was witnessing when 25 people were slaughtered in the backyard of their house.

When her aunt, who heard the massacre in the morning, arrives home, she encounters Zehra's injured body among the corpses.

Zehra is now our guest. All the necessary social, psychological, educational and health services are under the control of the Yetim Foundation.

There are still thousands of Zehras in Syria. You can help us reach more children with your support.
